Is going to a program/school in central/south america a good idea?
I will be a senior in high school next year i am not terribly concerned about college more about life experience and i would prefer answers from people who have done it… i am just looking to speak spanish and experience things i have never seen before and i love hiking and there is a lot of it there… its move to the city for senior year or go to any south or central american country and i need to decide soon
I would suggest enrolling in an american school that has a good study abroad program and star that way, its safer and all you need is already established. Then you can decide if you’d want to make the move entirely to one particular country. The universities that offer good study abroad programs will usually have more than one latin american to go study in. good luck

Because you don’t have to be in a classroom for the Spanish classes to commence, now you don’t have to rush out of the office plus you get to save on your gas bills because you can have classes anywhere you want, whenever you’re available!
Spanish classes online utilize the VOIP (Voice Over IP) technology so it is cheaper because you don’t have to pay by the minute. All you need is a reliable Internet connection and a computer and you’re off to learn a new language! Who said learning Spanish is difficult?

Let’s say you have a son, senior in college, looking to go to graduate school. Let’s say he studied abroad this past Summer in Central America and met a girl there, and they liked each other, and now he says to you that they can realistically visit each other 3-4 times a year (he shows how how it is doable, that he can pay for the ticket with his internship pay), and they want to be in a relationship (though they are not yet). The girl is a junior at a university in Central America, fluent in Spanish and English, and talented in her field.
What would you say to your son? On the one hand, he is old enough that you can’t say, “No,” especially if he can pay for the tickets… But at the same time, maybe you wonder why he doesn’t find someone closer, and how is this going to affect his studies, etc…

If your son is old enough and responsible enough to go into graduate school, he is old enough and responsible enough to make his own decisions regarding his personal relationships. If it’s a mistake, he will find out soon enough. I say stay out of his business.
