What are some good clubs to check out while in Atlanta?
I’m a young (27) single girl who grew up in NYC and is now living in Miami. I will be in Atlanta Sep 13th-17th, for business leaving Friday morning. I’m trying to check out some good places to go dancing at that have not only good drinks and music but a good vibe as well. I like pretty much all kinds of music but prefer dancing to hip hop, spanish (salsa/reggeaton/merengue) and house music. What places are worth going and what places should I stay away from? I’m staying in downtown Atlanta and have never been there before.
It’s hard for me to answer since you’re not going to be here on the weekend. Life nightclub on Thursdays. Club Primal has a good day on a week night, but I’m not sure what day. Luckie Lounge use to be the spot on Wednesday nights. It might be worth checking out. Cosmo/Lava Lounge is good on wednesday and thursday. Scores in Decatur is alright on Tuesdays and Thursday. It has a ghetto vibe if you’re okay with that. It’ll get you out of the hotel. Tongue and Groove on Wednesday and Thursday. Gold Room on Thursday. Considering the fact that you’re coming from Miami I know Atlanta doesn’t even come close. I did my best. If you could stay for the whole weekend there will be a lot more options for you. Hopefully you’ll get more responses that can help you out more…good luck. look at the websites I posted. You will need a car.

Also, everyone I asked this question told me The Gansevoort rooftop bar was AMAZING – but I did not enjoy it. If you like an overcrowded rooftop, with $17 vodka tonics, then go for it.
My personal favorite is Brother Jimmys! It may not be your personal taste, and it isnt a “club”, its a bar….but its definitely worth checking out. The staff is amazingly nice, and its a real down-to-earth crowd. Its a casual atmosphere. There are a few locations in the city, but the funnest one is on 77th & 2nd Ave.
- The crowd is in their 20s, they play what you would hear on a “pop” radio station – like iTunes top 100….with some random songs thrown in. Its ALWAYS a good, fun crowd. The party really gets going around midnight……and if you dont like it…..there are a million different kinds of bars around it on 2nd Ave. Bourbon Street is also fun – its across the street from Brother Jimmys.
