Will the reading of the book on the life and passion of Christ stand the test of time, or is it dying?
… the “pabasa ng mahal na pasyon” – the chanting or singing of Christ’s Passion – a Filipino Lenten tradition dating back to Spanish times.
That beautiful tradition will outlive us. I know for a fact that there are some families – both in urban and rural places – who have a “panata” (solemn promise) that they will be doing the “Pabasa” every year. This has been handed to them by their ancestors and they will pass it on to their children and so on.
It might interest you to know that there is a parish in IL where the Filipino community has been doing the “Pabasa” for the last 8 years now. Heartwarming, isn’t it?
As a kid (in San Pablo City) I remember the “Pabasa” being done in makeshift huts (called “kubol” by the locals) and anyone could just chime in and join the chanting.

I’m in Spanish 1 this year and I got a 45 on the last test, because I totally messed up on time!! I don’t get it will some spanish speaking person PLEASE explain it to me? Im retaking the test tomorrow. Isnt it before thirty minutes u subtract……? i dont know D:

I think I found your problem…you’re not super familiar with your numbers. It should be “son las cuatro menos VEINTE”. Four minus twenty, not ten like you wrote. Make sure you have “son las” for “it is…”. But, when it’s between one o’clock and one thirty you would say “es la una…” because it’s only ONE so it isn’t plural.
