Monaco Grand Prix 2010 Preview Update
Monaco Grand Prix 2010 Update ahead of the race at Monte Carlo, Monaco on Sunday 16th May 2010.
Last Weeks Spanish Grand Prix
Following last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix the current world champion Jenson Button will start the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday 16th May 2010 with a slender lead in the drivers’ championship. In the race for the constructor’s championship, McLaren still lead, despite Lewis Hamilton crashing out in the penultimate lap.
Last week in Barcelona, Red Bull proved the best team, with the quickest cars on the circuit and Mark Webber won, and Sebastian Vettel came third, although it was very nearly a Red Bull one-two, only for Vettel’s pit stop problem.
Fernando Alonso was quick to capitalise on Vettel’s errors in Spain, and took second place which also moved him up to second race for Driver’s Championship.
Nico Rosberg had a poor qualifying session and was even worse on race day, finishing thirteenth, which dropped him down to fifth in the Driver’s Championship.
In Spain, Michael Schumacher managed to hold off a real challenge from Jenson Button held onto fourth place.
There was one happy team in Spain – Virgin, who managed to see both its drivers finish the race for the first time.
Monaco Grand Prix
The 6th race of the season is the Monaco Grand Prix and held on 16th May. The Monaco Grand Prix, is perhaps one of the most famous locations in the Formula One calendar.
Qualifying commences on Saturday, and with record numbers of car this year, it could be quite interesting, as overtaking is always a huge problem.
Jenson Button won the Monaco Grand Prix last year, and started from pole position. So, whoever gets pole this weekend will clearly have a significant advantage, and the Red Bull team who seem to have the fastest cars, could actually be firm favourites to win.
Lets hope this weekend remains safe, as the Monte Carlo circuit is extremely tight, and has been known to see many cars crash into the barriers.
You can catch the qualifying session on Saturday 15th May 2010, before the main race which starts on Sunday 16th May at 14:00hrs (local time).
The event is set to be electric, and if you’re travelling don’t be dissappointed and know where you are staying. Hotels are likely to be expensive, so self catering holiday apartments in Monaco could be good alternative option, but book early!
If this is not possible, don’t panic, as there will still be other forms of holiday accommodation in Monte Carlo.
