Hard time with language, how do I remember it?
I love french but I can’t remember alot of it! It is like a really hard language to learn!!!!!!!!! I watched a video and stuff I can’t remember like I remember english and spanish! Is it because I need a teacher or its a third language I am learning?
P.S. I am half french half Irish
French is very similar to Spanish. If you already know Spanish, you really shouldn’t have any problem with French. I’d suggest you look for the similarities between the two, because there are very many … that will help you remember it better. Learning a third language is easier than learning a second language, especially if they’re similar. It doesn’t matter what genes you carry, language is not inherited and you need to learn them just like everybody else. I’d suggest you do take a class, because the pronunciations in French are very different from English and Spanish and your teacher will be able to correct you. Remember once you learn something wrong, it will be double the work to unlearn it and then learn the correct way, so do take French classes. I’m learning my 11th language and it gets easier and easier because you learn to make associations among them. I suspect my 12th will be a real piece of cake! Keep going … and good luck!

How can I learn a new language effectively?
I wanted to learn Spanish for a long time, but I always end up with a mess!
I tried many ways, like class, podcast, videos, books, penpaling… but my Spanish still sucks.
Can anyone provide me some effective ways outside of lessons besides going to live in Spanish speaking countries?

A) Keep in mind that everyone feels that way! It’s difficult to learn a language to the specifications it sounds like you have for yourself.
B) best way I know of is complete immersion.
Really tough to find time to live in the target country to really learn, but that’s the best. Some schools offer complete immersion time. There are other ways, but they involve lots of self-discipline…forcing yourself to use the language all the time, and all.
With Spanish, there are many neighborhoods where you can find people to practice with…that’s always good.
A combination…working with many sources all at the same time is pretty good, too.
But getting to the point where it’s completely ingrained into you is really difficult unless you live in a country where it’s surrounding you.
