Spanish Food & Drink?
I’ve been asked to design a menu for my GCSE spanish coursework. Problem is, I’ve left my spanish folder and text book at school and I’m unsure of spellings etc.
I have to make a menu consisting of starters (or tapas), mains, desserts and drinks. It has to be 100% spanish.
I need some ideas about what to put on it as so far I have zumo de naranja. I’m not doing too well!

Gazpacho – Cold Soup
Albondigas con Salsa de Tomate – Meatballs with Tomato sauce.
Mains:
Costillos de Cerdo – Ribs in a Tangy Sauce
Gambas Pil Pil – Large Prawns with rice, chili and garlic
Brocheta de Pollo – Chicken, red pepper and paprika on a skewer
Deserts:
Crema Catalana – Vanilla Custard with Caramalized Sugar
Churros con Salsa de Chocolate – Doughy rings with dipping sauce
Helado Vanilla, Fresa y Chocolate – Vanilla, Strawberry and Choco Ice Cream
Drinks:
Zumos Frescos – Fresh Juices
Cervezas – Beers
Sangria – A sweet wine
Cafes – Coffee’s
Refrescos – Soft Drinks

This is for a spanish project: my menu is based on puerto rico soo for the traditional dishes, they have to be based on puerto rico. the others can be any spanish food or drink.

there is too be five dishes for each category. but it’s alright.
Snacks (Tapas):
Bacalaítos – a codfish fritter
Tostones de Plátano – Fried Plantains
Pastelillos – a fried turnover filled with meat & or sometimes cheese. (same as an empanada)
Pasteles – banana paste and pork or beef wrapped in corn husk or ti leaf and boiled. (almost like a tamale)
Almojabanas – a rice & flour fritter
Drinks (Bebidas):
Coquito – kind of like eggnogg. it has coconut & is made with rum.
Malta – a malt soda
Horchata de Arroz – a cold drink made from pureed rice
Leche de coco – coconut milk
Pina Colada – a mixed drink made of pineapple juice and coconut cream and rum
( sorry it was hard to think of any without alcohol. lol puerto ricans are big rum drinkers)
Desserts (Postres):
Arroz con dulce – it’s like rice pudding, but it has coconut. kind of like mushy rice.
Dulce de Coco – coconut candy. kind of has the same consistancy as fudge.
Budin de Pan – bread pudding
Besitos de coco – coconut kisses. kind of hard to explain. it’s like a really sweet coconut candy.
Flan – a baked caramel custard
Breakfast (El Desayuno):
Boiled yellow plantains – kind of self explanitory
pan de agua – water bread
Tortilla de guineitos – basically an omelette made with bananas
Funche – like italian polenta. can be eaten sweet or savory.
Batatas Asadas – a baked puerto rican yam
Lunch (El Almuerzo):
Arroz con gandules – rice with pigeon peas
Asopa de pollo – chicken soup
Jamon y Queso – ham & cheese sandwich
chuleta – pork chop
caldo de pollo con mofongo – chicken broth with garlic flavored mashed plantains (mofongo)
Dinner (La Cena):
arroz con pollo – yellow rice & chicken
Pernil Al Horno – roast pork shoulder
Carne Bif – corned beef
Habichuelas – beans
Lechón entero al Horno – oven roasted pig (a whole pig)
They’re all traditional dishes from Puerto Rico. Did she maybe mea a typical meal?
For dinner I’d make Pernil, Arroz con Habichuelas & maybe some Tostones.
